Overview: The goal of UCLA Anderson’s Executive MBA Program is to increase students’ competence for effective action as global business leaders. The learning model emphasizes mastery of the fundamentals of business, proficiency in analytical problem solving skills, and the development of an evident point of view on strategic leadership and on what it means to actually lead a firm. Anderson’s student-centered approach is grounded in recognition of the close connection between management education and management practice.
Program Format: Classes are taught onsite, at the Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles, California. Students are instructed by the case study method, lectures and discussion, hands-on learning, and group work. A Master of Business Administration is awarded upon completion of the program.
Program Schedule: The program takes 22 months to complete, and classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays.
Curriculum/Core Courses: Students are given a global perspective to business fundamentals as well as an integrated approach to management. In addition, successful executives and their organizations rely heavily on solid teamwork. This is integrated into the curriculum heavily. Technology in the classroom is given great emphasis as well.
Some core courses include Leadership Foundations I, Data Analysis, Marketing Strategy and Policy, Advanced Financial Policy for Managers, and Operations and Technology Managements.
An International Trip is required.
Class Profile: Students range from ages 29 to 49, with an average of 14 years of professional, full-time work experience. The school admits between 70-75 students to the program each year.
Admission Requirements: To apply for the EMBA with the Anderson School of management applicants are required to submit completed essays, all employment history, and application fee ($200), two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts.
Application Deadline: The Anderson School began receiving applications on September 1, 2011 this year, on a rolling basis. Applicants can expect an admission decision within 60 days of a completed application being submitted.
Essays: The UCLA Anderson Admissions Committee is interested in getting to know students on professional and personal levels. Students are encouraged to be introspective, genuine, and succinct. Strong content is highly desired. All responses to essays must be on double-spaced pages that are uploaded in document form.
