Overview: Receiving an MBA from Berkeley develops innovative thinkers and leaders who know how to put ideas to work. By leveraging the innovative energy that’s ever-present in Berkeley-Haas culture and in the business ecosystem of the San Francisco Bay Area, the program teaches you how to seize opportunities, challenge conventional wisdom, and act creatively. Anchored in a rigorous general management curriculum, the program gives students the breadth and depth of knowledge to be a leader in any type of organization, including global firms, startups, nonprofits, or self-started businesses.
Program Format: Each fall, the Evening & Weekend MBA Program admits four cohorts of approximately 60 students each: two cohorts of evening students and two cohorts of weekend students. Classes are offered on the UC Berkeley campus, and also at a location in the Silicon Valley for some weekend students.
Program Schedule:
Evening Schedule: Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a 45-minute break. First-year students attend classes two nights each week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Evening courses are held at the Haas School in Berkeley.
Weekend Schedule: Classes are held Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with two 15-minute class breaks and one 60-minute break for a catered lunch. Weekend classes alternate between Berkeley and a Silicon Valley location. Easy access from freeways and airports makes the weekend option viable for students who live outside the San Francisco Bay Area.
The program is designed to be completed within six semesters (or 3 years). However, students can complete the program in five semesters, or the program can be extended beyond six semesters with approval from Berkeley’s program office. Most student enroll in two classes per semester.
An MBA is awarded upon completion of the program.
Curriculum: The curriculum of Berkeley’s Evening and Weekend MBA program prepares students to master the essential skills of general management, from accounting and finance to marketing and strategy. Students build a framework in qualitative, analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
Berkeley Innovative Leader Development (BILD)
BILD is the connective theme that runs through the entire Berkeley MBA curriculum to ensure that students develop the skills required of innovative leaders.
Infused with the unique BILD perspective, the Berkeley MBA’s rigorous general management curriculum teaches students to become leaders who can harness new ideas to create a successful firm.
Core Courses: Core courses that are a requirement of the Evening and Weekend MBA program with Berkeley include Economic Analysis (Microeconomics), Introduction to Finance, Financial Accounting, Marketing, Operations Management, Leadership Communications, Macroeconomics, Ethics and Responsibility in Business, Problem Finding Problem Solving, and Competitive Strategy.
During the summer of the second year of the program students have the option of taking up to two electives, or participating in a two-week abroad trip in one the school’s Seminar in International Business programs.
Class Profile: Each year The Haas School enrolls approximately 240 students to the Evening and Weekend MBA cohort. The average age is 32 years, and the average amount of professional work experience is 8 years.

Admission Requirements: The Evening and Weekend MBA program accepts applications for the fall semester only. To be considered for admission applicants must submit an application fee of $200, university transcripts, a current resume, a GMAT or GRE exam score, TOEFL or IELTS exam score if applicable, an online application, essays, two letters of recommendation, interviews (by invitation only), a statistics course prerequisite, and a quantitative proficiency exam.
